The Pot Healer Adventure

“To the explorers who come after me…
It was my grandfather who first told me about the family legend of Numbakulla.  Often as a child I would sit and listen to him talk about the history of the island and the sacred task of looking after the trees.  Eventually, my interest grew, and I resolved to find the island, and discover whether his tales were true.”

When I first arrived at Numbakulla, I realized it was the scene of a shipwreck.  Things were scattered about…and as I moved my cursor over items, I found that many were pieces to a puzzle of the story of Numbakulla.  I couldn’t wait to get started!  This is an involved and time consuming adventure, but it doesn’t have to be done in one visit.  First, click on the pink or blue box to pick up the explorer gear, as well as the suitcase.  This will put you into the spirit and have you looking snappy right away!  Great items, well designed and FREE!  From there, just click on anything your cursor allows.  And READ the items.  These are all clues and instructions to the game.  This can be done alone or in groups, whichever you prefer.    And don’t think it will be easy!  My first trip to this sim was when I was a noob.  I did much of it, but I never yet solved the mystery…but I’m not giving up!

According to the inworld notecard, “The game was built by a team of people which included Ratt Foo, Cierrah Blair, Sky Everett, Baron Grayson, Caliandris Pendragon, Moopf Murray, Ambyance2 Anubis, Lost Therian, Selador Cellardor, Zapoteth Zaius.”  Not a shabby bunch.  Well worth a visit to see what this team has put together for all to enjoy.

Laguna Beach Club

Originally built for MTV a few years back, Laguna Beach Club remains one of the best beach clubs in Second Life.  Although MTV is no longer affiliated with the club, it still has the most amazing laid back, breezy style that begs for people to hang out and chill while enjoying great music.  Open spaces filled with attractive and comfy seating, dance floor, and stage take up the main spaces upon entering.  Additionally, shops filled with swim gear and other miscellaneous items can be found here, including Starry Nights, a collection of prim stars that one can place on their property…beautiful!

I had the pleasure of running into the new owner, Love Repine, while visiting recently.  As an experienced club owner, he formerly owned The Zanzibar, the club is sure to maintain it’s amazing ambiance and cool factor.  Mr. Repine stated that he wanted to “keep the  Laguna vibe just fresh it up a touch”.  Now, that is music to my ears!  He also says that he will begin to schedule live music soon.  I can’t wait!  So, I recommend that you join the group to keep informed of events and live music gigs.  I’ll be seeing you there!

Drowsy

Drowsy is a charming little seaside village that is definitely worth a look.  It reminds me of  the type of village one would love to visit on a lazy afternoon – with a delicious packed lunch, a leisurely picnic on a blanket in the warm sun, gentle warm breeze blowing with the soft grass swaying.  Then after a while, hike up to the village for some antique shopping.  At Drowsey, I didn’t see any antiques for sale, but I did see a wonderful derelict building with clothing, skin and hair for sale.  There are a few other shops too, but mostly I recommend the sim for the beautiful scenery and leisurely mood.  The sim seems designed for exploration with a cobbled narrow main street that leads to other intriguing paths.  Hmmm…..which path to choose?   I think I will explore them all!

Ridha Cooljoke

“When marimba rhythms start to play
Dance with me, make me sway…”

I first met Ridha before I knew he was a RL musician and while he was still a bit new in SL.  As I showed him around the best places I knew in SL, I found he was a sweet and charming person who had a love of the world and the people in it.  When I found out he was  a professional performer, I couldn’t wait to hear him!  It didn’t take long before he began his virtual career, quickly building up an avid and loyal fan base.  And it’s no fluke, Ridha pours himself into every concert…his shows are full of energy, fun, and wonderful rhythms – a fusion of the world’s beats.  He soulfully sings in  Arabic, breezing into Italian and later French and English without missing a beat. From pop dance, to jazzy ballads, to even his own compositions…one can’t help but sway with the rhythms.  The message Ridha spreads is a beautiful one…one world…peace, love, and happiness.  I’m happy to say that I still consider him a great friend and I’m thrilled with his ongoing SL and RL successes.   Love ya Ridha!!!

“I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts…”

Kick off those shoes, get your sunscreen and sunglasses on and head over to Tiki Tattoo.  They’ve got everything, from land rental, to island clothing, tattoos, beach furniture, landscape plants, to even prefabs.  Tiki Tattoo has the most exstensive and authentic looking, top quality Polynesian items I’ve ever seen in SL.  Not only is the sim beautiful….(do kick off your shoes and try out the items for sale), but the genuine feel, down to the laid back and relaxing music, makes this a wonderful place to shop, hang out, and pull together an island look.  I’ve got my look all together, see?  Now, all I need is a Hula dance!

Carnival of Doom

This sim is no longer open in Second Life

Go to Hell.  Seriously…I want you to go to HELL!

But don’t be offended.  I mean you no ill will.  First go to the Carnival of Doom…another wonderful creation of the Rezzable crew.  Pick up the free hud, wear it, and the fun begins!  There are rides, attractions, fortunes and…oh yeah, HELL!  How? you may ask?  can I go to Hell?  Well, by not obeying the instructions for the rides, such as staying seated.  You see, your hud is a life meter too…so naturally, some of the rides may be a bit, uhm, dangerous?  So I went to Hell…as shown in the pic above.  The thing about Hell is that you have to wait a few minutes before you can leave.  A bit of a dump really.  And the music was…..well, it was hell.  Once you have served your time, you exit and walk thru an interesting corridor.  Be sure to take this exit and don’t cheat.  The coolest thing about going to Hell is the complimentary balloon!  I got the Eye of Newt balloon, not as cool as the Chicken balloon I got the last time I went to Hell.  So, in conclusion…I say to you “GO TO HELL!” and drag your friends to Hell with you!  You will all have a he……wait, you thought I was gonna say “hell of a good time”, didn’t you?  You don’t know me!  You will have a heavenly time!

“Wild thing, I think I love you…”

I don’t think I have much more to say on the subject.  Except that there are more amazing shoes here.  Go check ‘em out!  Oh, and the sim….it’s beautiful!

League

If, for some reason, someone told me I could only shop at one store from now on…no question what shop that would be.  League!  Designer Nena Janus not only creates amazingly complex, rich, and detailed designs, she also offers a wide variety of very appealing looks.  From the HOTTEST club dress I have EVER seen, the Scoop dress worn in the pic above (I have one in every color), to the steampunk post-apocalyptic look, to the edgy and slightly naughty RP gamer-girl look.  While I’m not a heavy RPer…there are instances, or moods which demand these looks.  What League does is make a stunning design that works in any situation, then flavor it with a theme without going over the top so that even tame and timid types, like me, can’t wait to wear the outfit!  Additionally, you can find some of the most gorgeous boots here…beautifully shaped and fitted.  If you want to see the Scoop dress from the front, get to the store.  It’s not called “Scoop” for nothing!

Inca Temple

If you were to ask me who my favorite jeweler is in SL, without hesitation I would say Di Yifu.  Her shop, Inca Temple, is filled with beautiful objects!  My humble opinion and observation is that if many create a particular item, but few do it well, it must be a really difficult thing to do.  Jewelry is like that in sl.  So much of it is out there, but few are very well done.  They are often flat, lackluster, and just don’t sit right on the shape.  I’m sure that overcoming these things is quite difficult.  But I can tell you that Inca Temple can and does overcome these problems with great style!  The set in the pic above, Opus Magnum, is soooooo well crafted…an unbelieveable number of prims (yes prims, not pics on a flat object) that her necklace must come in two parts!  The prim balls of white and yellow gold shimmer beautifully, conjuring metal that is cool and smooth to the touch.  The gemstones are stunningly translucent and irridescent.  Many think the solution to making good jewelery is to bling the hell out of it.  Personally, I can only handle scant amounts of bling, if any.  Di’s creations glow without the artificial use of “bling”.  I reserve an entire folder for just her creations…it’s the first one I dig into when I need the perfect accessories for an outfit.  While many of her pieces are designed for role-play…they are very versatile and can go with many looks.  I can go on describing here, but until you try one on you won’t get the full effect.  And yes Di, your Opus Magnum, or “outstanding creation” name is well deserved!

Truth

Truth is another one of my staples for wardrobe and hair in SL.  Yesterday, I received a notice from Truth with pics of new releases of dresses and hair.  One look at those pics…I was soon on a TP to Truth!  The result is the look in the pic above.  Sunday Dress in Sand, Isabella hair in mocha.  If only you could see the details of the trim of the dress.  So delicate and beautiful!   I also stumbled into a 50% off hair sale there which is ALWAYS a good thing.  Another GREAT thing is that Truth offers an adorable short ‘do called Jess as a free gift.  And as with all products they offer at Truth, it is a quality-made item.  It won’t just sit in a freebie folder unworn.  One word about groups.  There are some groups that you must absolutely sign up with.  Truth is one of those shops.  Now with the group joiners that don’t take up group slots, there is no excuse not to.  Not only do you get the best designs hot off the design table, but you get all notices of goodies and sometimes, if  you’re lucky, gifts just for group members.
