When you arrive, you’ll be facing the White Taj which is based on the Taj Mahal.  The Black Taj is a creation of imagination.  Both are architectural wonders.  The palaces are vast and there are many rooms to be explored and hidden places to be found.  Each palace has a dance hall, so grab a date and select a location – or try them both!  Take an airship tour of the sim, or a relaxing rowboat ride. And don’t forget to explore the forest…there are some beautiful places that you’ll want relax in.

Greetings from Barcelona.  Having a great time – wish you were here!

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Tumotiko%20East/69/136/0

I’ve not been to the real Barcelona, so I can’t say if this sim is similar to the real deal or not, but I can tell you that it’s gorgeous, very well designed, appealing to the eye, and a great place to hang out in general and meet folks.  It’s good if you know a bit of Spanish as there are many Spanish-speaking people around.  It offers a cozy cafe to share a latte with friends or to have a dance.  There are assorted shops and art galleries.  And in addition to the city feel, the edges are beach covered and offer sights to see, boating interactive activities, and more hang out spaces.  The music is a soothing Latin station, good for chatting with friends or dancing.

Here’s a tip…do visit sims that have a majority of non-English speaking residents.  Don’t be afraid!  It’s a wonderful way to experience another culture without a passport or even leaving your home.  There are translation devices easily found in SL, many of them free.  There is a bit of a learning curve, but it’s well worth it.  Its a terrific way to learn a foreign language or practice your rusty skills in a language you are semi-literate in.  I’ve had many non-English speaking friends do this very thing in order to practice their English and I’ve seen them become remarkably proficient by the exercise and rather quickly too!  Overall, it’s a great way to expand your world and your skills while having a great time.

When you arrive, you will find yourself in a simple blue-walled house with several vendors of interesting objects.  Do take a look.  But whatever you do, do not fail to walk outside the door.  Once you exit, turn around to admire the unique design of the store Rootbeer then, continue to explore the entire sim.  This sim is one of the most unique and fantastic sims I’ve come across in some time.  I can’t simply name shops for you to explore, there are too many whimsical and wonderful things spread throughout the sim in various stores, things so imaginative, silly, creative, and most importantly, fun!  I bought the most useless gadgets here and I love them!  In the pic above I somehow wound up at Club Luna wearing the always chic Extreme Cat Eye Shades from Paper Couture and the RACHELBREAKER SPLOOGEGUN that shoots gobs of pink goo.  Very well made items, not just frilly props…and great for laughs!  After the club, I found an interesting hair shop called Clawtooth by Clawtooth.  I bought a demo hair for Kitten with a Whip at the shop and proceeded to try it on.  But I was confused…stunned.  Something….wasn’t…quite right…

WHY THE HELL AM I SQUATTING ON THE FLOOR???  AND WHY THE HELL AM I WEARING A MOUSTACHE???  AND WTF IS THIS LADY DOING TO ME???!!!

I cam out a bit to soak it all in…

Clawtooth by Clawtooth at Tableau_003

And I roll into a hearty laugh!  The surprise of it, the absurdity, the irreverence….I love it!!!  Check out the cow in the background wearing the tiara.  If the lady didn’t have a drawn on goatee, I’d be kinda ticked…but as it is…I get the joke.  A surprising and eclectic riff on the standard DEMO boxes on other demo hairs by creator Bubbles Clawtooth.  Pretty funny!  Well, as  you can see,  Tableau is full of surprises and silliness, not to mention one-of-a-kind items that you really should check out.  A lot of laughs with your friends can be had on this exploration.  I ended up buying the hair which inspired me to whip out my other recently purchased Carved Flower Cat Eye Glasses by Paper Couture and my Poppies dress by Icing and go totally retro!

Freestar Bay is a definite must if you want to know whats up in the music scene in the virtual world.  The best way to do this is to take the surl above, wait for it to rez, then grab the notecards that the greeter gives.  There are regular events and live music gigs so you will always have something to look forward to.  The pic above was taken at a Noma Falta concert.  She and other great musicians perform there regularly and with the enthusiastic fans that come with them, you’ll have a great time!

If you are a real world musician looking for a virtual world audience, then you should come to Freestar Bay and contact Freestar Tammas.  See you there!

So….you think you can dance?  If the answer is no, or if the only dance moves you have are freebie and, ahem, inferior quality dance moves, then perhaps you should TP over to the Ministry of Motion!  They have Jamiroquai (YAY!), Beyonce, John Travolta, Michael Jackson, and other well known dancer moves as well as acid/jazz/funk/soul/disco, chilled/freestylin, street/hip hop, contemporary, 60′s/20′s, metal, and more.  Not only that, but you’ll find the right animation for your stage moves too!  Do you wail on the electric guitar?  Play a mean jazz piano?  Or just rock the house with your amazing stage presence?  You’ll find the right move for your groove here at the Ministry of Motion.  The sim is a whimsical and fun place to just peek around while trying all the dances.  More than dances are sold here…I saw a mean attack shark.  Beware!  You may even meet an interesting character like I did.  Meet Neo in the pic above.  Don’t judge!  I’ve found the most interesting folks in SL masquerade behind the most unusual avatars.  Come over, bring friends…and some lindens.  Some funky fresh moves here.

The cool factor is soaring high at the LostAngel Industries sim.  I’ve been meaning to check out this place ever since I saw the teasers out in ads a few weeks back.  And it is QUITE a tease!  Check it out for yourself here:

http://lostangelsl.com

Wow, I feel cooler just for having LOOKED at the ad!  Don’t you?  If nothing else, they sure know how to package and sell a product!  I never knew if it was a role-play sim or club, so now I’ve come to check it out myself.  Will it live up to the hype they’ve created?  Upon arrival at the TP site, I find that it is primarily a shop for poses.  Not just a shop, but an entire sim built in a gritty, urban, underground, techno style.  The buildings have rooms of different types of poses spread out allowing you to soak in the atmosphere as you browse.  And there is alot of atmosphere here!  Obviously a high quality build, gorgeous textures, and designed to pique your curiosity and offer some fun.  The poses are high quality pieces of work designed for model shoots, bloggers, or people who want some interesting poses for their personal pics.  It’s alot of fun to try them out and they include many group poses, so bring your friends.  Although the sim looks finished, it looks like there is alot of room for more pose displays to come…so it begs for a return visit in the future.  Overall, I’d say that LostAngel lives up to their hype of being uber-cool, and as a bonus, I’ve got some new poses to try out for the pics for the blog…yay!

When I first arrived, I was dazed and disoriented.  It was difficult to know which direction to go…with each step into the blackness I uttered a silent prayer that I wouldn’t plunge into the cityscape below.  As I tried to make sense and direction out of the lights, buildings, and chaos about me, I came upon a platform where a sleek motorbike was parked.  I jumped onto it but was immediately repelled by the security system.  I had to continue walking.  I stepped once again into the darkness, only to find myself falling.  It was a short fall and I landed on the platform landing of a stairwell.  As I picked myself up, I noticed a movement in the darkness…on the stairs above me.  I was startled, but couldn’t make out the shape.  My heart beat faster…and I decided to keep walking.  Out of the corner of my eye the shape took form.  It was a man in a dark leather coat.  And he had a gun… pointed at me!  I suddenly realized how careless it was for me to try to take the bike…it must have sent an alarm to the owner.  And now, the owner was here.  Tracking me with his gun.  “Keep walking” I told myself.  I inhaled deeply and took two steps.  “Oh my god!” he said.  “You’re Leeloo!”  I turned around, smiling at him.  “Yes” I answered.

True story, by the way!  The man put the gun away.  His name was Jaco.  We chatted a bit.  I learned that he resides on the sim and he invited me to join him as he docked his ship.  He told me to hop onto the back of his bike and we jetted off.  His ship/residence was a dome-shaped structure with AMAZING textures…really, the whole sim is absolutely incredible!  Bladerunner, The 5th Element seem to inspire the look of the sim.   Jaco sat in the pilot seat and I sat next to him and he carefully maneuvered the ship to the docking station.  After a perfect dock, I thanked him for showing me about.  He was a real gentleman, that is after he put the gun away :)

Some serious RP goes on here, but don’t let that intimidate you.  Visitors are welcome.  This sim is a MUST SEE destination.  Truly, one of the best sims in SL.  I strongly urge you to visit it!  You may meet a new friend like I did.

“When marimba rhythms start to play
Dance with me, make me sway…”

I first met Ridha before I knew he was a RL musician and while he was still a bit new in SL.  As I showed him around the best places I knew in SL, I found he was a sweet and charming person who had a love of the world and the people in it.  When I found out he was  a professional performer, I couldn’t wait to hear him!  It didn’t take long before he began his virtual career, quickly building up an avid and loyal fan base.  And it’s no fluke, Ridha pours himself into every concert…his shows are full of energy, fun, and wonderful rhythms – a fusion of the world’s beats.  He soulfully sings in  Arabic, breezing into Italian and later French and English without missing a beat. From pop dance, to jazzy ballads, to even his own compositions…one can’t help but sway with the rhythms.  The message Ridha spreads is a beautiful one…one world…peace, love, and happiness.  I’m happy to say that I still consider him a great friend and I’m thrilled with his ongoing SL and RL successes.   Love ya Ridha!!!

Splitsville Bowling and Music

Bowling in SL?  Yep, they’ve got it.  And no better place to experience it than at Splitsville!  Just grab your free glove and bowling hud, wear them, stand in position, grab a ball, click “new game” on the game controller, then click “throw ball” on your game hud.  What happens next depends on your skill level.  What happened after I rolled the ball?  Well, lets just say, that thanks to SL…there is a move worse than a gutterball.  And that is the kind of throw I made.  Woohoo!  Give the whole sim a look-over.  Not only does it offer bowling, but a whole lotta other fun activities.  One thing you should absolutely do is grab a notecard of the upcoming music events.  The club gets a respectable number of quality live music gigs on a regular basis.  With lots of rock n’ roll tunes playing, and a retro feel, it’s an all around great place to rock around the clock!

Unintended Water

“Tis a gift to be simple, ’tis a gift to be free…”   I love how each sim has it’s own feel…at least when well done.  In my opinion, the best creators don’t just build a space, but also build a mood.  The one at Unintended Water is one of peace and beauty.  Not alot of  commerce here.  Just sweet, sweet…..space.  And serenity.  There are secluded areas to have a chat or a beautiful moment with another as well as dancing in the gazebo.  Off to the side on the water is an understated mod art gallery.  Amazing photo art there.  They’re for sale, but at great prices…and again, not any in-your-face marketing or sales of products.  Wouldn’t even know the art was for sale except if you cursor over the pieces.  Definitely a DO if you are in a more contemplative and mellow mood.
